Batavia, Ohio. The Clermont County Animal Shelter is currently accepting donations to help care for the six thoroughbred horses, a donkey, and pony taken from a Tate Township property this week in an alleged animal cruelty case; a veterinarian has determined that the animals are malnourished. At least 10 carcasses of horses were also found on the property at 2200 Donald Road in Bethel.

Donations can be dropped off at the Clermont County Animal Shelter, located at 4025 Filager Road in Batavia, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Donations after hours can be left at the building behind the shelter. The Clermont Animal Shelter will be closed on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2010.
An account has also been set up to accept cash donations at Bethel Feed and Supply, located at 528 W. Plane Street in Bethel.
