Applicants Needed for Clermont County Developmental Disabilities Board

Batavia, Ohio. “Being a board member of Clermont County Developmental Disabilities (CCDD) is a wonderful opportunity to represent those, like my daughter, who cannot represent themselves,” said Wanda Downey. For over 20 years, the Goshen Township woman has served on the board of the agency that provides a wide array of services to those in the community who have developmental disabilities. “As a parent of a child who has special needs, it is a commitment that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through my involvement with the CCDD Board, it has been an incredible opportunity to learn about the agency, and to make recommendations on improvements that will benefit all those who rely on the agency for assistance.”

The Board of Clermont County Commissioners currently is accepting applications for a position on the CCDD Board; the applicant must be the parent of a child who is eligible for CCDD services. Applications for the position are available on the Board of Clermont County Commissioners (BCC) Web site www.ClermontCountyOhio.gov or by calling the BCC offices at (513) 732-7300.

“It is so heartwarming to walk down the hallways of the CCDD buildings and have so many people come up and hug you,” said Downey. “We, as a family, have been involved with CCDD for 36 years; my daughter, Angela Marie, is now 40 and lives in a group home. Without the service and support of the agency, she would not be the woman she is today. She has come so far in such a loving and nurturing environment.”

If selected to serve on the CCDD Board, there are 10 scheduled meetings each year with additional committee meetings possible.
