Clermont Commissioners Name New County EMA Director
Immediate Release
November 16, 2011
Batavia, Ohio. The Board of Clermont County Commissioners (BCC) today approved the hiring of Pam Broughton of Amelia as the new Clermont Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director. She replaces Beth Nevel who retired from the position in October. Broughton spent the past 7 ½ years with the Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Office, where she served as a program coordinator and was a lead planner in the regional earthquake drill that occurred earlier this year.
Broughton was the unanimous choice for the position by a panel of first responders and county staff tasked with interviewing candidates for the position and making a recommendation to the BCC. “I am very excited for this opportunity to continue to grow and build strong relationships with first responders throughout Clermont County,” said Broughton. “Because I was born and raised in the county, a graduate of Glen Este High School, I have a vested interest in ensuring that we have a more secure and prepared community.”
Broughton will begin her new position on Monday, November 28, 2011. “I look forward to working with students and engaging community members in emergency preparedness activities,” she said. Broughton is a graduate of Wittenberg University with a BA in Geography; she also holds a Masters in Security Studies from the Naval Post Graduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
In 2009, Broughton spent a one-year fellowship with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, D.C., working on how national preparedness directives are executed on the state and local levels.
