Batavia, Ohio. “Veterans Day will be a little extra special this year,’ said Clermont County Veterans’ Service Office Director Dan Bare. “In addition to our annual parade through downtown Batavia at 7 p.m., the Veterans Memorial Plaza will be dedicated in Batavia Township. This is a wonderful tribute to the many men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom; it serves as a welcome home and acknowledges a job well done.” Dedication ceremonies for the plaza are set for 3 p.m.; the Veterans Memorial Plaza is located next to the Batavia Township Community Center at 1535 Clough Pike in Batavia.
“The centerpiece of the plaza is a Humvee, donated by BAE Systems, that has safely transported many of our service men and women through numerous military conflicts,” said Batavia Township Administrator Rex Parsons. “We can think of no better place for this Humvee than Batavia Township’s new plaza, where it will be a constant reminder of the courage and sacrifice made by the men and women of our nation’s military services,” said BAE Systems’ Security and Survivability President Tony Russell.
“The Veterans Memorial Plaza dedication ceremony will feature the raising of flags to honor each branch of service, a 21-gun salute to honor those who have lost their lives during combat, a color guard, a flyover, and patriotic music,” said Parsons.
