Batavia, Ohio.  You are invited to attend an open house for the SR 32 Eastgate Area Improvements Study on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, anytime between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Union Township Civic Center, located at 4350 Aicholtz Road.  The purpose of this open house is to obtain comments from citizens on several conceptual alternatives developed by the project team.  No formal presentation is planned; exhibits will be available and members of the project team, including the Ohio Department of Transportation, Clermont Transportation Improvement District, and TranSystems consulting will be available to discuss the study and answer questions.  Individuals who may require interpretation services or special assistance to participate in this meeting should contact the project team five days or more prior to the meeting for special arrangements.

The goal of the SR 32 Eastgate Area Improvements Study is to reduce congestion and improve safety in the area, consistent with local transportation and economic goals.  The project will coordinate with regional plans regarding rail, public transit, community development, and environmental restoration.

In November 2004, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) published Access Ohio 2004-2030, Statewide Transportation Plan.  The statewide plan recognized SR 32 as an important trade and travel corridor.  In 2006, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) completed the Eastern Corridor Study, in cooperation with Clermont County, Hamilton County, and the City of Cincinnati.  The Eastern Corridor Study was a comprehensive look at the transportation needs between Cincinnati and western Clermont County.  More information is available at the website www.EasternCorridor.org.  As part of a multi-modal transportation strategy, this study included a recommendation to consolidate and manage access points to establish SR 32 as a limited access arterial roadway, including elimination of access at SR 32/Glen Este-Withamsville Road, with planned local road improvements implemented separately in support of this improvement.  The current SR 32 Eastgate Area Improvement Study strives to build upon the previous study by evaluating detailed solutions for this area.

Written comments on the SR 32 Eastgate Area Improvement Study will be accepted until October 26, 2011.  Comments can be submitted at the open house meeting; they can be mailed to SR 32 Study Team, TranSystems, 4555 Lake Forest Drive, Suite 540, Blue Ash, Ohio  45242; emailed to amschneider@transystems.com, or they can be sent by fax to (513) 621-2901.
