Batavia, Ohio. The Clermont County Communities Energy Special Improvement District (C3ESID) and the Melink Corporation announce that Miami Township, Union Township, and the city of Milford have approved the creation of an Energy Special Improvement District (ESID). By allowing property owners to pay for energy improvements to their properties via a bond issue tied to a special assessment on their property tax bill, ESIDs help companies reduce energy costs with no upfront investment.
The C3ESID will be limited to commercial property owners and solar photovoltaic systems for the first round of financing, and can be expanded to include other forms of renewable energy or energy efficiency should interest materialize.
Melink Corporation of Union Township, a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, facilitated the formation of the ESID with assistance from Clermont County and other organizations. “We are pleased to be part of this pioneering effort and to provide an opportunity for commercial property owners to realize savings from solar photovoltaic systems with no upfront investment and cumulative positive cash flow over the life of the system,” said Melink Vice President of Renewable Energy David Boezi.
The C3ESID is aiming for a $1 million bond issue, and is continuing to enlist commercial property owners to participate. “We’ve had a tremendous response,” Boezi said. “We are excited about the opportunity to help bring Clermont County and its communities to the forefront of clean energy financing.”
