Batavia, Ohio. Beginning this month (September), Clermont County veterans can benefit from a new and expanded Cincinnati Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center Clinic in Union Township. The clinic, that replaces the previous one on Ferguson Drive, is located in a plaza near the intersection of SR 32 and Beechwood Road. “This new clinic is twice the size of the original one,” said Department of Veterans Affairs Public Information Officer Todd Sledge. “The larger Clermont clinic was needed to handle the increased demand for service in the area; the clinic treats almost 4,000 veterans.”
In addition to providing primary care and mental health services, the Clermont County Veterans’ Service Commission has an office at the facility. “This office space serves as a critical satellite location for our operations to better serve the veterans of Clermont County,” said Clermont Veterans’ Service Office Director Dan Bare. “We can assist and direct veterans in areas such as VA healthcare, VA claims, pensions, and emergency financial assistance.”
Veterans and their family members who have questions about accessing VA healthcare can walk into the clinic without an appointment to determine what services are available to them. “A copy of the veterans’ DD 214 is helpful to bring with you to help staff at the clinic determine services you are eligible for,” said Sledge.
Bare adds that the primary advantage of the satellite office is the “one stop” convenience for the veteran. While the central office is located in Batavia, the satellite office can provide the same level of service as the central office. “The other advantage of the satellite office is the high visibility within the Eastgate area that complements our continued outreach efforts that are vital for our community of veterans,” said Bare. He invites all veterans and their families to contact his office at (513) 732-7363 for additional information about services provided; you can also visit the Web site www.ClermontCountyVeterans.com.
