Batavia, Ohio. “What could be more relaxing than a leisurely riverboat cruise on a sunny fall afternoon?” asked Clermont Parks Chief Naturalist Keith Robinson, reviewing plans for the Fall Back Into Time cruises on BB Riverboats’ Mark Twain sternwheeler, set for Saturday, October 10, 2009. “The sightseeing cruises will carry passengers from Chilo to Augusta, Kentucky for the Turning of the Leaves Festival; one way and round trip cruises are available.
“As an added attraction, visitors can meet historical re-enactors representing historical characters of the Ohio River Valley region,” said parks volunteer Wayne McClain. You can vote for your favorite historical character ($1 a vote) with the proceeds benefitting the various historical organizations that are participating. For more information visit the Web site www.FallBackIntoTime.com.
“There will also be free fun activities for the children at the Chilo Lock #34 Park,” added Robinson. “Children can make old fashioned clay marbles and there will be an educational song program for children led by musician Steve Free; he will also be giving a free concert beginning at 1 p.m. “We’ve had a lot of great community support for this event, including a $500 donation from Duke Energy.”
Robinson expects a large turnout for the cruises and activities. Reservations must be made through BB Riverboats at 1-800-261-8586 or visit the Web site www.BBRiverboats.com. Tickets will be available the day of the event at both the Chilo Lock #34 Park and in Augusta, Kentucky.
