Batavia, Ohio. Members of the Clermont County Senior Services Core Committee need volunteers to donate blood; they are sponsoring the second annual Hoxworth Blood Drive at Clermont County Senior Services, located at 2085 James E. Sauls Sr. Drive in Batavia Township. The blood drive will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Blood is a biological product and cannot be stored indefinitely in its liquid state. To make sure there is always enough blood and blood components for patients, Hoxworth Blood Center needs members of the community to donate regularly. As long as healthy, volunteer donors keep replenishing the community supply, life-saving blood and blood components are available to those at the time of their greatest need.
“In order to donate blood, you must meet certain criteria,” said Core Committee Coordinator Penny Balzhiser. “You must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, have no fever, sore throat, flu or cold symptoms, and have not had any recent major surgery. The donated blood is used for everything from treatment of traumatic injuries to elective surgeries.”
If you are interested in donating blood, please call Penny Balzhiser at (513) 536-4025 to schedule an appointment by September 17, 2009.
