Batavia, Ohio. Howard Daugherty of Tate Township was elected chaplain of the Ohio State Association of County Veterans Service Commissioners (OSACVSC) at their summer conference, held July 10-12, 2009 in Dublin, Ohio. As chaplain, Daugherty will lead opening and closing prayers during meetings, and will contact the family members of recently deceased veterans.
“Howard is a great leader, and he will do a wonderful job as chaplain for the association,” said Clermont Veterans Service Office Director Dan Bare. “He is dedicated to helping veterans and their families in every way possible.”
Daugherty has served on the Clermont County Veterans Service Commission Board since 2000 and represents Disabled American Veterans (DAV); he is a lifetime member of the DAV, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Veterans and the American Legion. Daugherty served during the Vietnam era with the US Army. Daugherty is also a member of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor.
