Batavia, Ohio. “Because reptiles and amphibians are cold blooded, they are more sensitive to changes in temperature than birds, fish, or mammals,” said Al Winstel, a local herpetologist and retired naturalist. He will be the featured speaker at a free Clermont County Park District Live Reptiles and Global Warming program, on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Pattison Park lodge, located at 2228 US 50 near Owensville.
“Changes in temperature can impact the egg laying cycle, breeding, hibernation, and the availability of food for amphibians and reptiles,” said Winstel. He will use wildlife pictures and live animals in his presentation.
“We are excited to have Al as our guest for this special presentation,” said Clermont County Parks’ Chief Naturalist Keith Robinson. “He is extremely knowledgeable and we welcome the entire community to come out and learn more about this important issue.”
Pattison Park is one of seven parks operated by the Clermont County Park District. For more information on this or any of the other naturalist programs, call (513) 876-9013 or visit the Web site www.parks.clermontcountyohio.gov.
