Batavia, Ohio. The fifth annual Janet Wolf Memorial Golf Outing, benefitting the Clermont County Humane Society, will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Elks Run Golf Course, located at 2000 Elklick Lane in Batavia. The four-person scramble tees off at noon and promises to be fun for the novice and experienced golfer alike, with door prizes, raffles, split-the-pot chances, and special “Mulligan Packets.” A steak dinner will be served after the golf outing, and is included in the $125 registration fee. To register online, visit www.ClermontCountyAnimalShelter.com.
For 51 years, the Clermont County Humane Society has sheltered and cared for tens of thousands of displaced, unwanted, and abused pets, and every effort is made to find these pets new homes. “Fundraisers, such as this golf outing, support the Adoption Center and after-hours emergency program,” said Dr. Timothy A. Fouts, board member and veterinarian. The Clermont County Humane Society is contracted by the Board of Clermont County Commissioners to operate the county’s animal control function, as required by state law. Proceeds from the sale of dog licenses fund this operation. The Humane Society is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization and receives no governmental subsidy to operate its Adoption Center and after-hours emergency program.
“The Board of Directors is made up of people like me, who work full time, and devote numerous hours of their spare time helping the Humane Society,” said Fouts. “We do this by managing finances, making operational decisions, organizing volunteers, navigating through legal waters, maintaining a positive, forward-thinking vision, and organizing three major fundraisers annually – the dinner auction, membership drive, and this golf outing. None of us are professional fundraisers, only concerned citizens working to make the world an easier place for abused, unwanted, and neglected dogs and cats.”
The Clermont County Humane Society is located at the Clermont County Animal Shelter, 4025 Filager Road in Batavia. The shelter is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, call (513) 732-8854 or visit the Web site www.ClermontCountyAnimalShelter.com.
