Immediate Release
February 9, 2010
Batavia, Ohio. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Clermont and surrounding counties through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. The National Weather Service (NWS) cautions that a Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are forecast that could make travel dangerous. The NWS reports that snow will continue over the region today with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected through this afternoon. An anticipated break in the storm should occur this evening; more snow will move in late tonight pushing storm total accumulations to 4 to 8 inches. Blowing and drifting snow could be a problem for drivers.
As of 1 p.m., Clermont County roadways are passable, but overall traffic is running slow. The Clermont County Engineer’s Office has 14 plows and trucks on the roads this afternoon to steadily treat the 400 miles of roadway the county oversees.
Because of the snow, the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) is cancelling two foster care programs scheduled for tonight (February 9, 2010). The foster parent recruitment meeting at the Hyde Park Panera and the first in a series of pre-services for foster parent training scheduled for tonight in Batavia will not be held due to inclement weather conditions.
