January Rock and Roast Supports Clermont Hike/Bike Trail

Batavia, Ohio. Construction on phase II of the Williamsburg-Batavia Hike/Bike Trail is expected to begin this summer. When completed, the 13 mile trail will connect the villages of Williamsburg and Batavia, passing East Fork State Park. “What’s really unique about this trail is that it uses old and existing roadways and is a collaborative effort among the villages, the Clermont Park District, East Fork State Park, the Board of Clermont County Commissioners, Clermont Engineer’s Office, state and local lawmakers,” said Williamsburg Mayor Mary Ann Lefker. “We hope that the community will enjoy the trail and that it will bring additional visitors to the area.”
Phase I of the trail opened two years ago; it is 2 ½ miles long and runs from Broadway Road in Williamsburg to an overlook area near Harsha Lake. “Phase II will reopen Kain Run Road into the East Fork State Park,” said Clermont Parks Director Chris Clingman. “An OKI transportation enhancement grant with local match monies has been secured to fund the work.”
“Because grant dollars are getting harder to obtain, we are hoping the community can help us move forward with Phase III that will complete the trail into Batavia,” said Lefker. “On Saturday, January 21, 2012, we invite the community to attend a Hike/Bike Rock and Roast at Pattison Park, from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.” Pattison Park is located at 2228 US 50, just west of Owensville. “It’s great to see so many individuals and families enjoying the trail,” said Lefker. “We are so lucky to have a beautiful park like East Fork in our community.
