Immediate Release

Batavia, Ohio. Road crews with the Clermont County Engineer’s Office began pre-treating the 400 miles of county roadways they oversee at 4 a.m. yesterday; some hills and intersections have received three applications of salt and calcium chloride. “As of 10 a.m. today, the overall condition of county roadways is good,” said Rob Alfieri, deputy of operations with the Engineer’s Office. “Since the sun has come out, it’s allowing the salt to do its job, and helping melt the ice off roadways.”
Alfieri and his crews report that traffic problems are minimal on county roadways, but that drivers need to be diligent, because ice spots can pop up suddenly, especially overnight. “Although you can see black pavement and you may think the road is safe, remember that you cannot always see ice so continue to drive with caution," he said.
