Clermont Child Support Enforcement Recognized with Best Practices Award
Batavia, Ohio. The Clermont County Department of Job and Family
Services’ division of Child Support Enforcement is pleased to announce that
the agency is the recipient of one of the 2003 Best Practice Awards from the
Ohio Family Support Association. The agency is being honored for the
Career Opportunities Program, which is a joint effort among the Clermont
County Domestic Relations and Juvenile Courts, the Business and Workforce
Resource Center of Clermont County, and the Child Support Enforcement
Division.
Those behind in child support payments, who are unemployed or
underemployed and who are in court on contempt actions, can be referred to
the program rather than face the prospect of jail time with no job
opportunities. Since the program’s inception in July of 2002, over 190
individuals have become employed, and over $525,617 in child support has
been collected from those persons referred to the program.
“The program provides new and fresh options for the Juvenile Court to assist
children and to obtain child support from parents,” said Clermont County
Judge Stephanie Wyler.
Brenda Gilreath, assistant director of the Department of Job and Family
Services, will be accepting the award at the Ohio Family Support
Association’s annual conference on October 20, 2003.
