Clermont Child Support Month: A Success
Batavia, Ohio. The results are in: the Clermont County Department of Job and
Family Services’ (DJFS) Child Support Enforcement Month, in August, was a
success. The mission to crackdown on delinquent parents was accomplished
through the combined efforts of the Clermont County’s Sheriff’s Office, the Board of
Clermont County Commissioners, citizens, and the staff of the DJFS Child Support
Enforcement (CSE) division.
The event kicked off with a highly-publicized amnesty offer. Articles and stories
regarding the CSE amnesty program ran in numerous print and broadcast media.
The CSE division received 27 calls from those behind in their child support who
wanted to take advantage of the program. Five of the delinquent parents were
granted amnesty and a total of $1,300 was collected. This is money that will go to
the children of the delinquent parents.
During the month of August, the Sheriff’s Office apprehended 57 individuals with
outstanding bench warrants for non-support. That is up 15 percent from last year.
Thirty delinquent parents had their pictures published in area newspapers and on
local cable television, nine were arrested.
Special emphasis was also placed on the administrative lien process. During Child
Support Enforcement Month, the agency filed 86 liens with the Clermont County
Recorder’s Office in order to help facilitate the payment of child support arrears.
Thank you to all of those involved in making Child Support Enforcement Month a
success. These efforts help improve the quality of life for the children of this
community.
