August is Child Support Month in Clermont County
Most Wanted Roundup Targets 458
Batavia, Ohio. The Board of Clermont County Commissioners has proclaimed August as "Child Support Month." The Clermont Department of Job and Family Services' Child Support Enforcement (CSE) division will sponsor a number of activities aimed at increasing awareness about the program and its mission to collect overdue child support payments.
As part of the effort, CSE is working cooperatively with the Clermont County Sheriff's Office, Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Court, and Domestic Relations Court to hold the sixth annual Most Wanted campaign. A total of 458 individuals, who have outstanding child support warrants, will be targeted. "Last August, deputies arrested 127 individuals during the campaign," said CSE Director Brenda Gilreath, "By the end of the year, we collected over $73,000 owed to the children of those apprehended."
CSE will also publish a Most Wanted poster that will feature 9 of the biggest child support offenders; they will be posted throughout the county. Most Wanted information will also be published in local newspapers, on cable access television bulletin boards, and on the Web site www.ClermontSupportsKids.org.
Over 50,000 flyers featuring three Most Wanted individuals (indicted on criminal nonsupport charges) will be included in Clermont County water and sewer bills. The individuals targeted owe a total of $48,284 in overdue child support.
"The true beneficiaries of this effort are the children," said Gilreath. "If citizens can help us locate any of the individuals named in the Most Wanted campaign, please call our office at (513) 732-7248."
