Clermont County Announces Amnesty Month in July
Batavia, Ohio. Clermont County Child Support Enforcement (CSE), a division of the Department of Job and Family Services, will again offer amnesty in July for parents who are behind in making child support payments.
"From July 1 through July 31, 2007, parents who are delinquent in making child support payments can contact CSE and arrange to bring their accounts up-to-date," said CSE Deputy Director Brenda Gilreath. Those who make a significant payment toward the total owed or who supply CSE with employment information from which a wage assignment can be completed will be considered for the amnesty offer. Individuals who are wanted for felony non-support of dependents are not eligible for the amnesty program.
Last year, the amnesty offer resulted in 96 phone calls and $19,602.62 was collected during July, with a total of $69,281.19 paid on amnesty agreements by the end of the year. The annual amnesty program is offered during July, prior to expanded enforcement efforts to find delinquent parents which occurs in August. The amnesty program enables individuals who are behind in child support payments or who have legal or administrative action pending against them for failure to pay, to contact CSE and make arrangements to be in compliance.
"Individuals who are behind in payments are encouraged to contact our office during July to avoid expanded enforcement techniques held during August, including the annual Most Wanted Roundup," said Gilreath.
