Clermont County Announces Amnesty Month in July
Batavia, Ohio. The Child Support Enforcement (CSE) division of the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services will be offering an amnesty month in July for parents who are behind in making child support payments, if they meet certain criteria.
"From July 1 through July 31, 2006, parents who are delinquent in making child support payments, can contact CSE and arrange to bring their accounts up to date," said CSE Deputy Director Brenda Gilreath. "Once payment is made, CSE will suspend or withdraw legal action pending on cases, including bench warrants and contempt citations, and will review drivers license suspensions linked to non-support cases." Those who make a significant payment toward the arrearage or who supply CSE with employment information from which a wage assignment can be completed, will be considered for the amnesty offer.
Clermont County has taken a proactive position against those who have been delinquent in support payments for their children. In 2005, CSE collected $581,212 through the administrative driver's license suspension program. In addition, CSE collected over $36 million in child support in 2005, the highest collection year ever for the agency.
"The amnesty program is being initiated in connection with Clermont County's annual observance of Child Support Month in August," said Gilreath. "Securing support for children is the top priority of our agency and it is our belief that this amnesty program will result in additional funds for families in this community."
