Job Duties: Manage the activities of the Magistrate’s Courtroom, including bailiffing; printing the docket; checking the case files for proper notices; making sure all parties are in the courtroom; docketing daily courtroom activities; preparing notices and serving them to the parties in the courtroom; appoint attorneys for indigent clients; appoint guardian ad litems; process post-mediation paperwork. Case types involved include custody, visitation, child support, delinquent/unruly, traffic.
Perform general clerical duties; process documents filed with the court; schedule hearings; mail summons and notices; docket dispositions; pull case files for court; filing; process sealings and/or expungments of case files; direct the public; participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have knowledge of criminal justice system, ability to read, analyze and interpret general professional journals, policies, procedures, or government regulations; knowledge of court policies and procedures; ability to use Windows based software; ability to produce and save entries into a dedicated software package; good public relations skills and knowledge of various functions of staff.
